After earning her Interior Design degree from Stephen F. Austin in 2009, Mary Kate refined her expertise at several top design firms in Houston before launching her own studio. In 2023, she took a leap of faith, closing her studio to join Bluejack Builders—a move that led to the creation of Bluejack Design.
Now leading Bluejack Design, Mary Kate specializes in residential interiors with an emphasis on full-service design, renovation consulting, and product sourcing. Her approach blends timeless design principles with a modern, livable aesthetic to create spaces that are both beautiful and deeply personal.
Since its launch, Bluejack Design has earned recognition for its thoughtful projects earning awards and the team has built lasting relationships with clients who value both style and functionality.

Outside of work, Mary Kate enjoys spending time with her two daughters Summer and Blair. She also finds creative inspiration through her passion for photography, which she pursues as a hobby.

With a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design from Texas State University Jenni has a well-trained eye for detail. Her wealth of knowledge and technical skills along with her bright personality make for a great work experience. In her designs, she creates spaces that are both functional and appealing to each client’s specific needs. She has 9 years of experience in everything from creating customized furniture plans, selecting custom furniture and accessories, to entire home remodels and new build construction. No matter what aspect of design you are needing help with, Jenni is excited to help you through the process!

Jennifer has over a decade of interior design experience as the wife of a home builder and approaches her role with intuitive communication: listening closely, refining concepts collaboratively, and ensuring that every detail – from architectural flow to final furniture installation – align with her clients’ lifestyle. Her ability to blend design strategy with the art of communication sets her apart in the industry.
Jennifer guides clients through the design process at Bluejack Ranch with ease from concept to completion, delivering quality craftsmanship, curated finishes, and timeless sophistication – transforming their homes into luxurious sanctuaries that feel intentional, expressive, and inspiring.

Madi Katz graduated from the CIDA-accredited Interior Design program at Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science and a minor in Art History. With over two years of residential design experience, she currently serves as a Junior Designer at Bluejack Design, having previously contributed as a Design Assistant. In her role, Madi leads built product hard selections meetings and provides clear documentation and design direction to help buyers visualize their spaces with confidence. She also assists with the conceptualization, procurement, and purchasing of interior soft goods. Madilaine is dedicated to delivering a seamless and elevated design experience for every client.

Melissa Abati is an NCIDQ-certified interior designer with more than 25 years of experience shaping residential, hospitality, and luxury environments. Known for her warm client relationships, calm leadership style, and meticulous attention to detail, Melissa brings a thoughtful, solution-oriented approach to every project she leads at Bluejack.
As a senior designer, she has created distinctive interiors across the U.S. and internationally, guiding clients through concept development, space planning, finish and furniture selections, and full-service installation. A graduate of TCU’s FIDER-accredited interior design program, she earned her Bachelor of Science cum laude, and her work has been featured in publications such as The Corridor-DFW Magazine and Interior Design Magazine, reflecting her long-standing commitment to creative, client-focused design.
Outside of work, Melissa enjoys traveling with family and friends, quiet beach days with a good book, and cheering on the Horned Frogs with her daughter, who is currently a junior at TCU.

A Houston native, Sam Governale brings over two decades of passion, dedication, and creative achievement to his role as Principal Commercial Designer at Bluejack Design. With an accomplished background in hospitality and design, Sam’s expertise bridges the worlds of culinary artistry, spatial experience, and refined aesthetics — shaping spaces that are as functional as they are inspiring.
As a veteran of the hospitality industry, Sam has worked with elite restaurants such as Babbo with Chef Mario Batali, 13 Barrow St with Chef John Tesar, and Mirezi with Chef Anita Lo. He has also developed and overseen numerous award-winning wine programs nationwide as a top-tier sommelier.
Returning to Houston, Sam played a pivotal role in shaping some of the city’s most celebrated dining destinations, including Turner’s, Café Annie, Trattoria Sofia, and Emmaline, where he served as Founder and Operating Partner. His leadership has earned him recognition from ZAGAT, InStyle Magazine, and Food & Wine Magazine as one of Houston’s most dynamic voices in hospitality.
Today, as Principal Commercial Designer at Bluejack Design, Sam brings his extensive hospitality insight to the world of interior and commercial design — creating spaces that seamlessly merge atmosphere, function, and experience. Sydney Lange graduated from the CIDA-accredited Interior Design program at Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design. She currently serves as a Design Assistant, contributing to a wide range of design tasks and project phases. In her role, Sydney supports the design team through sourcing materials and furnishings, preparing client presentations, and assisting with project documentation and coordination.
